The Otesha Project Board of Directors (Volunteer)

The Otesha Project is a national charitable organization that facilitates theatre and bicycling experiential learning programs to engage and empower Canadians of all ages to take action for a more equitable and sustainable world.

Opportunity

We are seeking individuals who share the Otesha Project’s mission and values to join the Board of Directors to provide governance, accountability, and strategic direction to the organization.

A current focus of the Board of Directors is to support the formation of, and to collaborate with, a Visioning Committee to revision the organization’s programming and operating model. This is an exciting time for new Board members to offer support and learn through innovation, creativity, and accountability.

Members of the Board of Directors are expected to dedicate approximately 5 hours every month to board meetings, committee meetings, and project work. Directors are also asked to actively participate in fundraising and/or outreach activities. Directors are expected to serve a two-year renewable term.

Requirements

Applicants should demonstrate their experience in one of the following areas in their application:

  • Experience in marketing
  • Knowledge of the Canadian charitable sector, and/or youth experiential learning or adventure programming
  • Experience being on a Board of Directors
  • Knowledge of the legal requirements for charitable organizations
  • Experience in finance - working with budgets, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and financial forecasts

As well as:

  • Experience working on sustainability and social justice issues
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sense of humour, and positive attitude
  • High integrity and professional standards
